Corporate Communion Sunday, 2nd December at 10.15 am
There are no MU meetings in December, but we do, of course, have our Christmas Party on 8 December at 12 noon for 12.30 pm at the Black Lion. The cost will be £10 for 2 courses plus coffee and a mince pie. Money will need to be in by Sunday, 2 December.
Afternoon MU Group
The Revd Revd Simon Airey was the speaker at our November meeting. Simon spoke about setting up Under Tree Schools for both boys and girls in southern Sudan during the civil war when it wasn't feasible to build schools. School buildings have been completed since South Sudan has become independent. These schools now teach girls only because the schools provided by the government only educate boys. Simon spoke movingly about the hardships endured during the civil war and told us about the warmth and hospitality of the people.
The next afternoon meeting will be on 21 January at 2.00pm at the Town Hall, when the speaker will be the new Methodist Minister, Revd Sue Altree.
Our social evening plus a cooking show on 15 November was a great success. Members and friends had the chance to use "Pampered Chef' products and to taste the dishes prepared during the demonstration. It was an enjoyable evening; £75 was raised for MU funds and well over £100 worth of items of kitchen equipment was bought for "Save the Family" to pass on to families leaving their care.
The next evening meeting will be on 17 January at 7.30pm in St John's Room.
Yours in love and fellowship.
