Afternoon Mothers' Union Group
September 15th was our Mystery Outing. A full coach of members and friends set out from Ellesmere at 11am and arrived at the delightful town of Eccleshall in Staffordshire at 12 pm. On arriving at Holy Trinity Church we had a short service of Mothers' Union afternoon prayers led by our own vicar The Rev. Philip Edge, followed by a lovely lunch in the Church Hall prepared by ladies from the Church. After lunch we had a most interesting guide and talk on the history of Holy Trinity Church, which dates from 1195. Thank you to Mrs Connie Mason for arranging such a memorable outing. The next Mothers' Union afternoon meeting will be on October 20th in the Town Hall at 2pm with a talk by Mr Rodney Upton "The Update of the Church Bells".
Evening Mothers' Union Group (eMUs)
On September 24th we had a fascinating talk by Mrs Estelle Parker about a family from our church who lived 600 years ago. A girl getting married and giving birth to a Son and all the perils and dangers of Childbirth and the hardships of living such a long time ago in Ellesmere. The family came to St. mary's, the son was a clever little boy who learned not only to read but to write. When he eventually died he was buried in the floor of St. Anne's Chapel, where his tombstone remains today.
The next evening meeting is on October 22nd at 7.30pm in St. John's Room with a Mothers' Union film on Homes.
Yours with love,
