January 18th was the start of our new programme, with a talk and slides by Bill and Lynn Morris "The Kenyan Schools Project", helping children in Kenya with their education.
Bill and Lynn have raised thousands of pounds for this project, providing desks, school equipment, classrooms, toilets, clean water etc., and which now includes 11 schools and 2 orphanages. A tremendous achievement. I feel very proud of them. Teas were served by Mrs Valerie Thomson and Mrs Susan Francis.
As from February Mrs Valerie Thomson wishes to step down from her post at Mothers' Union Secretary and writer of our Intercessions. I would like to thank Valerie for all her excellent and dedicated hard work over many years as our secretary. She was much appreciated.
Mrs Mavis Griffiths is starting a Mothers' Union Bible Class at her house 14a High Street, once a fortnight Friday mornings, lOam - 11 am, February 5th onwards. All members are very welcome, please just go along.
Our next meeting is on February 15th, 2pm at the Town Hall and will be a short AGM followed by a talk on "Our Rwanda Link" by Ann Harris, as a tribute to the late Mary Jones who started our "link" to Mothers' Union members in Rwanda at a very difficult time for them in the 1970s.
Women's World Day of Prayer, March 4th, is to be held at St. Mary's Church, Ellesmere 7.30pm.
Mothering Sunday is on 6th March with Posies and Mothering Sunday cards for all provided by Mothers' Union.
