Permission has now been obtained from the Archdeacon to alter the two paths around the war memorial. The path with the steepest slope will be grassed over and the second path altered and made disabled access friendly.
Quotes are currently being obtained to clean and renovate the memorial itself and the Ellesmere Branch of the Royal British Legion has been fundraising to pay for the repairs.
FROM THE CHURCH DIARY
A special service to celebrate the Saints day of The Blessed Virgin Mary after whom S. Mary's is named, will take place on Tuesday 8th September at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards in S. John's room. This is one of the main services of the year at S. Mary's and everyone is invited to attend.
Ellesmere Festival - Tower Open Afternoon
As part of the Ellesmere Festival weekend, the tower will be open for tours on Saturday 12th September from 2pm. Refreshments will be served in church during the afternoon and the church will be open for visitors too. This will be the last chance to climb the tower at S. Mary's this year.
The annual harvest supper will take place on Friday 2nd October in the Town Hall at 7.30pm. Tickets priced at £10 will be available soon from Ann Harris. A very fine three course meal will be served with starter, roast main course, dessert and coffee.
