The Harvest Supper on Friday 2nd October at The Town Hall went very well, but was not without some excitement! One of the guests was taken ill during the meal and an ambulance was called. Fortunately, Stuart has since made a full recovery and assures us that it was not the delicious meal which caused his illness!!
Seventy five guests enjoyed prawn cocktail or melon starter, roast beef provided by Rodney Stokes and cooked and carved by Adrian Stokes and Steve Davenport, followed by apple pie, tea and coffee. Jeremy Stretton provided two (difficult!) sets of quiz questions and there were good renditions of some traditional harvest hymns. Thank you to everyone involved with providing and preparing the food and for washing up afterwards.
The Autumn Fayre was also held in the Town Hall on Saturday 17th October and we were pleased to be joined by the Mayor Councillor Ian Ward and his wife.
Roger Ballamy was in charge of the kitchen and some magnificent home cooked lunches were served. There were produce, card and cake stalls and a bottlebola. The event raised almost £900 for church funds and we are very grateful to everyone for their support.
This year the Remembrance Sunday will be held on Sunday 8th November with the Last Post and Service at the Memorial at 10.45am followed by a service in church.
The Festive Coffee morning and Grand Draw will be held on Saturday 5th December at 10.30am in the Town Hall.
Draw tickets are now available from Anne Edge.
