S. Mary's Church News May 2018

Mothers' Union Coffee Morning
Saturday May 5th is our Annual Coffee Morning with cakes, cards, plants, gifts, tombola and a raffle, please do your best to come along and bring a friend, 10am-12 at the Town Hall.

Ascension Day
Ascension Day comes forty days after Easter (10th May) We climb the Tower and sing at 7.30am followed by breakfast and in the evening we have a Sung Eucharist. Please join us!

Mothers' Union Deanery Festival
Tuesday, May 15th is the Mothers' Union Deanery Festival with Welsh Frankton and Welshampton. This will be held at St. Marys' Church, Ellesmere at 2.30pm. The theme for 2018 is "In Mary Summer's Footsteps". The Speaker will be Helen Palfrey, Salop Archdeaconry Leader, followed by refreshments, everyone very welcome.

Cherish your Churchyard
Cherish you Churchyard week takes place from the 10th - 16th June, 2018. A series of events have been planned in and around the church. Tea and cakes will be served in Church each day.

The Mothers' Union Summer Outing
The Mothers' Union Summer Outing to Erbistock Church, Boat Inn and Gardens will take place on Monday 18th June. We will be leaving Cross Street at 11am, and returning back by 4pm. Contact Mrs Ann Harris for tickets, which cost £13.

Parish Lunch
The Annual Parish Lunch will be held on Saturday 24th June, 12.30pm for 1pm. This poular event will be held at Birch Hall, Ellesmere, courtesy of Mr & Mrs Andrew Gilman. Tickets priced at £12 are available from Ann Harris (Tel 622123).

Mothers' Union Coffee Morning

The Mothers' Union Coffee Morning  will be held on Saturday 5th May, 2018 at the Town Hall from 10am - 12.00pm.

There will be a Cake Stall, Card Stall, Plant Stall & Raffle.

Coffee & Biscuits £1.

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY SERVICE

The Remembrance Sunday Service will be held at St. Mary's Church, Ellesmere at 10:45 am on Sunday 12th November, 2017. All are welcome to attend.

PATRONAL FESTIVAL
Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sung Eucharist at 7pm on Friday 8th September, followed by refreshments. Everybody welcome.

Harvest Supper, to include a three course meal with tea and coffee, will be held on Friday 6th October 2017 at 7.30pm at the Town Hall (Bar only). Tickets are available from Ann Harris (622163) priced at £12 (Children half price).

QUIET DAY IN CHURCH
We haven't had a Quiet day for a long time, so on Saturday 7th October from 9am till 12.30pm Father Philip is giving a teaching day on the Sacraments with time for reflection. We had a good bring and share lunch on Sunday after Service on 6th August, which many enjoyed, and we can do the same after the Quiet Day (or really morning!)

PROMS COME TO ELLESMERE
We are organizing again this year a 'Last Night at the Proms' with Age UK on Saturday 14th October 7.30pm. This event will feature The Shrewsbury Light Orchestra & Ellesmere College Choral Society. Tickets are available from Anne Harris (01691 622163) or from Ismay's, 16 High Street, Ellesmere.
