We had our afternoon meeting on 18th November when we had our AGM. The results of the nominations for Branch Leader, were unanimous votes for Mrs Ann Harris, which she was happy to accept. Congratulations to Ann, we will give her our support and prayers.

Our speaker for this meeting was Gill Leach who gave an interesting talk on marketing and a quiz on Mothers' Union facts.

The Christmas Party is on 9th December at the Black Lion. The cost will be £13.00 for a 3 course meal plus coffee and mince pie. The cut off time for money and menu choices is the 2nd November. Please contact Connie Mason on 01948 780309 or any other MU committee member. As always non members are very welcome to attend this event.

I would like to say a big "thank you" to everyone who supplied cakes and supported us at MU cake staff at the Autumn Fayre. We made £159 which is a magnificent contribution to Church funds.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Save the Family talk did not take place on October 21st. Nonetheless, everyone enjoyed a delightful afternoon with tea, coffee and a chat with friends.

On November 18th the afternoon meeting will start a little earlier at 1.45pm as we will be having the AGM meeting first. Jill Leah will give us a talk on the wider picture of MU Marketing.

The Christmas Party will be on Monday 9th December at the Black Lion, 6.30pm for 7.00pm. The cost will be £13 for a 3 course meal plus coffee and mince pie. We had our July meeting in the Town Hall. We were very grateful to Fr. Philip who gave an exploratory and most interesting talk into prayer.

We did not have a meeting in August this year, but hope to continue with our Church service in 2014.

Our Mystery Outing on September 16th will leave Cross Street at 10.30am. We will be back in Ellesmere by 5.00pm. The cost of £22.00 will cover the cost of the coach and a two course lunch with tea or coffee and is open to non members. The closing date for tickets is September 10th. For further details please contact Connie on 01948 780308.

On October 21st the meeting will be at the usual time of 2.00pm. We will be having a talk with slides by 'Save the Family' member Karen.

Our Mystery outing in September was a great success. We had an excellent lunch at the Broughton Arms, Balterley, then onto St. James Church, Audley where we were made very welcome by their Mothers' Union and Church members, who showed us around and gave us a talk about the Church.

The existence of this Church is first documented in the Foundation Charter of Hulton Abbey (Staffs) in 1223. The South aisle contained a Lady Chapel by 1369 and was the original site of the Brass to Sir Thomas Audley, a second Brass was set on the North wall of the Chancel, originally the Chancel Floor, commemorates William Abnett (d1628) of Wynbrook House in Audley.

Refreshments were given by Audley Mothers' Union. Mary gave the vote of thanks on behalf of all the travellers and to Connie for all her hard work in organising the trip.

Our next meeting is on 21st October at 2pm, when we will be having a talk and slides by Save the Family member.

After the sad loss of our dear leader Jo, we the committee will continue with the running of the Mothers' Union, each one taking on a little extra, and hope that it will work until such a time that a leader will come along. We will do our best with Gods help.

Mothers' Union Coffee Morning

Mothers' Union Coffee morning in April was a big success. Thank you to everyone who supported us. We made £425 + £105 from the sale of Jo Beveridge's plants and cushions, making a total of £530.00

Afternoon Mothers' Union Group

The Rev'd Tom Farrell was the speaker at our May meeting. Tom talked about his time when he was an Evacuee at Lyneal coming from Liverpool. Then in 1956 when he ran in the Melbourne Olympics, then on to Rome where he was eliminated and finished at the Munich Olympics as a Pastor, it was all really interesting.

June 17th is our Members Lunch at the Boathouse 12.30 for 1.00pm
