Corporate Communion: Sunday 2nd May 2010 at 10.15 am
The speaker at our April meeting was Rachel Wilbry who gave a talk, illustrated by slides, about the work of Self Help Africa. As its name implies, this is a charity which helps poor people in Africa become self-sufficient. Its work includes constructing wells and pumps to deliver clean, safe water, helping to improve agriculture and providing education about HIV/AIDS.
The Deanery Festival this year will be at Cockshutt church on 19 May at 7.30 pm. This is always a lovely service and I would
encourage everyone to attend if at all possible.
Our day outing this year on 21 June is to be a mystery trip, costing £10, leaving Ellesmere at 9.30 am and arriving back in Ellesmere at approximately 6.00 pm. Please contact Connie
Mason or any committee member if you wish to go.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, 17 May at the Town Hall at 2.00pm when we will be having our Palm Court Surprise
Yours in love and fellowship.

Corporate Communion: Sunday 4th April,at 10.15 amAt our March meeting Mr and Mrs Edgerton gave us a fascinating insight into Ellesmere in years gone by. Aided by a wonderful selection of slides and postcards we were transported into the history of the local area.
Thank you to everyone who contributed flowers and greenery and helped to make posies for Mothering Sunday. In spite of this year’s late Spring and consequent lack of flowers, we were still able to make over 100 posies for distribution in church. I am sure that those of you who were in church that day will agree that they looked beautiful.
The Town Hall has been booked for a Coffee Morning on 24 April from 10.30 am. Entrance is £1 and we hope to have a cake stall, a plant stall and a tombola, as well as a draw. Any contributions or offers of help would be very welcome, but, most important of all, please come and bring your friends.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, 12 April at the Town Hall at 2.00 pm when we will be have a talk and slides by Rachel Wilbry from Self Help Africa.

We ran 2 very successful outings. Our day trip, in June, was to Buxton. We were once again blessed with wonderful weather, and after a trip through beautiful countryside we were free to explore the town and enjoy the parks and gardens. For our mystery outing this year we visited Ruthin. After an excellent lunch, we visited the church where we had a short service of prayers followed by a talk on the history of the church. We had time to look round the church before our visit was rounded off nicely by tea and biscuits provided by the local MU. After a scenic ride home through the Horseshoe Pass, we arrived back in Ellesmere at about 5.30 pm.
