Our Harvest Festival is on Sunday 2nd October at the 10.15am Service. Gifts would be most appreciated for the Harvest, the non perishables going to the Food Bank and perishables to Ellesmere House, as in previous years.
The Harvest supper this year is on Friday 7th October 7.30pm at the Town Hall. Tickets £10 available from the Church Warden Ann Harris.
Young people (10+) who are interested in being Confirmed on the 11th December at 10.15am by the Bishop of Shrewsbury at the Deanery Confirmation at The Blessed Virgin Mary, Ellesmere are invited to come to the Confirmation Classes 11.30am-12pm in S. Mary's Church for ten weeks. We have just started so it is not too late to join us.
I am starting the 'Living Faith' (Bishop's Certificate) course again on Wednesday 28th September 7.30pm at the Vicarage, (though we hope to move to a person's house thereafter). This is an exploration of the Christian faith to which many, from new Christians to experienced hands, would gain much. So please do join us in this house group. It is a ten week course. Those adults who are not confirmed can treat this as a confirmation course and also can be confirmed in December.
We will be welcoming the Mayor and Councillors to the Civic Service on Sunday 9th October at our 10.15am Service. We will dedicate them in the service of our community and are grateful for all they do for Ellesmere.
After Harvest Festival and Civic Service the third Sunday of October will be a Pet Service at 10.15am. So please do bring your pets to church for a blessing on the 16th October. Any pet is welcome (but you must clear up after it!). Eating other pets is strictly forbidden!
Deanery Synod is on 13th October at 7.30pm at Cockshutt.
Churches Together in Ellesmere meets on Monday 17th October at 7.30pm at Fran Butler's, 7 Elm Close, Ellesmere.
We give thanks to God for Fr John Vernon celebrating his 50th Anniversary of Ordination on Saturday 22nd October. Quite a mile stone!
On Sunday 30th October 6.30pm we will have an All Soul's Evensong remembering all who have passed away the last two years. Their names will be read out and remembered and anyone is most welcome to come especially those who have lost a loved one.
On All Saints' Day 1st Nov there is a Sung Eucharist at 7.30pm.
The new Bishop of Lichfield is visiting Ellesmere on Tuesday 15th Nov and will take the 7pm Holy Communion in church. Please do come and meet him!
My prayers and best wishes,
Fr. Philip Edge - Vicar
