ACHIEVING YOUR RESOLUTION in 2015
Every year millions of people do it - make New Year Resolutions. The most common resolves are to give up smoking or to achieve some planned weight loss. They embark on the enterprise on 1st January, but we all suspect that by the end of the month they'll be back on the cigarettes or have resumed tucking into the burgers.

'Giving is good for you'
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. It incorporates the basic Christian values of giving and sharing, family and friends. God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son that we might have life, and life in all its fullness. If you recognize Christmas as God giving us His Son, the Saviour of the world - that is His great gift to us all - then we too can see the joy in giving.

This Remembrance Sunday is poignant as it is a hundred years since the First Word War or Great War, the war to end all wars. The poppies around the Tower of London vividly show the cost of that war with nearly a million poppies in the moat to represent all those who died.

I want to say how wonderful the 'Last Night at the Proms' in church was last month with the Oswestry Sinfonia and the Ellesmere Choral Society. Thanks for all the hard work put in by Mark Spurdens, the Fundraising Committee and to Age UK. It was a great occasion which showed our beautiful church building off magnificently.

This summer seems to have passed very quickly. Everything is now gearing up for the autumn, and there are many things I need to tell you about. First, Richard Assar has had to give up magazine distribution due to ill health; thanks to him for all he has done and hope his health improves. Very kindly Mary Goulbourne has taken on the job, if your magazine has not been delivered recently or you would like it to be, please do contact Mary who will sort it out. We are very keen that our wonderful church magazine should be read as widely as possible.
