I am very grateful to all who took part in the 'Cherish you Church Yard week' in June. Our Church and churchyard were open to visitors 11th-16th June and many came. As well as the church being open, teas were served by a few dedicated people to many visitors, and there were a number of talks which were well attended.

What a wonderful wedding it was for Prince Harry and Meghan Merkel, now Duke and Duchess of Sussex. We had a great day watching our TV screens and seeing the magnificent pageantry, which the British do so well, mixed with a very positive contribution from so many people from the ethnic community. The Head of the Episcopal Church of America (Anglican) Bishop Michael gave a dynamic sermon and the Dean of Windsor overseen by the Archbishop of Canterbury, conducted the service magnificently. Maybe more people wishing to marry might now choose a church wedding. Bells were rung at St Mary's on the Sunday afternoon which many have appreciated. The first full peal for about fifty years.

May begins with the Feast of S. Philip (my namesake) & S. James 1st May. Philip was an apostle with common sense. Is there someone in church whom you respect for their spirituality and common sense combined - someone you feel easy about approaching to ask questions?

Easter is the most joyful day of the year for Christians. Christ has died for our sins. We are forgiven. Christ has risen! We are redeemed! We can look forward to an eternity in His joy! Hallelujah!

On the 2nd of March we remember S. Chad (d 672) first Bishop of the Mercian's and of our Diocese Lichfield. 'Come follow Christ in the footsteps of S. Chad' is our Diocesan strapline/logo. Our Lent Course on Wednesdays 7pm follows 'Steps in Discipleship' based on following S. Chad.
